Woke up feeling defeated, and a bit sad about life. Trauma can do that right? All will be alright.
The days of waking blur, they run
Into one, like setting sun.
Perhaps it’s that I’ve lost my way,
Not found my ‘why,’ or why I stay.
I scream aloud into the night,
As children cry, their voices light.
It weeps,
And it fades,
While echoes call, and softly fade.
“Please sit down,”
The sounds surround,
A pounding noise without a sound.
The days extend, they melt to one,
Because my ‘why’ is still undone.
I dream of peace in silent sleep,
While children laugh and voices leap.
It twists,
And it burns,
The joy of learning, none discern.
“Please write more,”
The hearts implore,
But still I ache, my soul is sore.
The weeks roll on, they stretch and bend,
But now I think I’ve found the end.
I settle in, my mind at peace,
As children cheer and laughter ceases.
It flutters,
And it fades,
The long-awaited end now sways.
Done,
At last,
The shadows past.
